Sensational jazz and Americana artists Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn are bringing their signature sounds to the Moore Theater!
Béla Anton Leoš Fleck was born in New York City in 1951 and is a musician, songwriter, composer. He’s named after Hungarian composer Béla Bartók, Austrian composer Anton Webern, and Czech composer Leoš Janáček. He began his musical journey at the age of 15 when his grandfather gifted him a banjo. He went on to study at New York City's The High School of Music and Art and he made his performance debut with Jack Tottle, Pat Enright, and Mark Schatz (in the group Tasty Licks). His musical style can be best described as a blend of jazz, jazz fusion (a genre that developed in the late 1960s when musicians combined aspects of jazz harmony and improvisation with styles such as funk, rock, rhythm and blues, and Latin jazz), bluegrass (a genre that takes roots from Irish, Scottish and English traditional music, and was also later influenced by the music of African Americans through incorporation of jazz elements), folk, classical, world, and folk rock. He’s had a stellar career with 12 studio albums, 1 live album, 1 compilation album, and he’s performed at High Sierra Music Festival, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Merlefest, Montreal International Jazz Festival, and many other renowned events.
