Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile

21st October 2017 - Saturday 20:00

Sensational indie rock and indie folk artists Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile are bringing their signature sounds to the Moore Theater!

Kurt Samuel Vile was born in Lansdowne (Pennsylvania) in 1980 and is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer. He began his musical journey at the age of 14 when his father gave him a banjo. He said in an interview, “I kind of wished [it] was a guitar. So I'd kind of just play it like a guitar anyway. I was really into writing pretty primitive tunes, and really into recording. I pretty much knew I was going to do music [with my life] then." He cites bands and artists such as Beck, (Smog), Pavement, Neil Young, Tom Petty, and John Fahey as his main influences and in 2003, he started creating lo-fi home recordings in collaborating with musician and songwriter Adam Granduciel. The pair eventually parted ways and Kurt released his debut solo album (Constant Hitmaker) in 2008. He went on to have a stellar career with 5 more studio albums, 7 extended plays, and 7 singles. He’s accompanied by his backing band, The Violators, which currently includes Jesse Trbovich (bass, guitar, saxophone), Rob Laakso (guitars, bass guitar, keyboards, various instruments), and Kyle Spence (drums, percussion). His latest album was ranked 2nd Best of 2015 by Still in Rock magazine.

Don’t miss your chance to see this artist add a unique touch to indie folk, indie rock, and lo-fi music!
