Daniel Johnston, California's sensational rock artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Moore Theater!

Daniel Dale Johnston was born in Sacramento in 1961 and is a singer, songwriter, musician, and visual artist. Over the years, his musical style has spanned many genres such as rock, outsider (a term used to refer to music made by those who are not part of the commercial music industry and who write music that ignores standard musical or lyrical conventions, either because they have no formal training or because they disagree with conventional rules), lo fi (a genre which grew primarily from American underground music scenes in the early 1980s and is associated with artists such as Sebadoh, Pavement, Liz Phair, and Beck), and avant pop (popular music that is experimental, new, and distinct from previous styles while retaining an immediate accessibility for the listener). He's had a stellar career with 17 studio albums, 3 live albums, 5 compilation albums, 10 singles, and he's collaborated with many renowned bands and artists such as Jad Fair, Yo La Tengo, Danny and the Nightmares, Ron English and Jack Medicine, Chris Bultman, Hyperjinx Tricycle, Okkervil River, Rule of Thirds, Kraig Mc Govern, The Swell Season, and Beam. He's also the subject of the 2005 award winning documentary The Devil and Daniel Johnston.
