Dr. Dog, Pennsylvania's sensational psychedelia and indie artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Moore Theater!
Dr. Dog started off in Philadelphia (Pennsylvania) in 1999 as an offshoot of bassist Toby Leaman's and guitarist Scott McMicken's earlier music project (called Raccoon). The band's been through many line up changes over the years and it currently consists of Toby (vocals, bass, and guitar), Scott (vocals, lead guitar, bass, piano, banjo, keyboards, and Omnichord), Frank McElroy (rhythm guitar, backing vocals, keyboards, and Omnichord), Zach Miller (keyboards, piano, organ, guitar, banjo, backing vocals, and accordion), Eric Slick (drums, percussion, backing vocals, and guitar). Their musical style is best described as a blend of psychedelia (a style of music influenced by the 1960s subculture of people who used psychedelic drugs such as LSD, psilocybin mushrooms, mescaline and DMT to experience visual and auditory hallucinations, synesthesia, and altered states of consciousness), indie rock, and indie pop (a sub genre of alternative/indie rock originating in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s and differing from indie rock to the extent that it’s more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst free). They've released 9 studio albums, 1 live album, 4 extended plays, 3 compilation albums, and their latest album (Critical Equation) comes out in April 2018.
