Legendary guitarists Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, and Phil Collen are bringing their signature sounds to the Moore Theater!
Joseph Satriani was born in Westbury (New York) in 1956 and is a guitarist, songwriter, composer, producer, and guitar teacher. He was inspired to play guitar at age 14 after hearing of Jimi Hendrix’s death. He started studying music with jazz guitarist Billy Bauer along with the reclusive and technically demaning jazz pianist, Lennie Tristano (who greatly influenced Joe’s playing style). Joe then began teaching guitar and many of his students (most notably Steve Vai, Kirk Hammett, Larry LaLonde, Andy Timmons) have gone on to become legends in their own right. In 1988, Joe was recruited by Mick Jagger as lead guitarist for his first solo tour and he also briefly toured with Deep Purple as their lead guitarist. His musical style is best described as a blend of instrumental rock, hard rock, and blues rock (a fusion genre combining elements of blues and rock, characterized by bluesy improvisation, the twelve bar blues, extended boogie jams typically focused on the electric guitar player, and often a heavier, riff oriented sound). He’s had a stellar solo career with over 10 million records sold and 15 Grammy Award nominations.
